어느 나이대나 생길 수 있지만 (1) , 대부분 청소년기와 젊은 성인에서 발생
(2) 단측성 (10%에서 양측성)
: Accumulation of pus in between tonsillar capsule and superior constrictor muscle
(3) 증상
: 인후통(주로 unilateral), 열/오한, 개구장애, 목소리 변화 (hot potato), 침삼키기 어려움, 사경
(4) 진단
: Clinical diagnosis. US나 CT(deep neck infection)이 도움될 수 있음.
(5) 치료
① Non-toxic & f/u 좋으면 oral anti, 아니면 ED에서 aspiration 후 OPD f/u
② Empiric antibiotics : Amoxi-clavulanate(45mg/kg Q12hr) or Clindamycin(10mg/kg Q8hr)
